Introduction
The Zhuo Main Canal is the largest irrigation system under the jurisdiction of this office, covering an irrigation area of 38,000 hectares with a 33-km long main line. The water source, the Zhuoshui River, has high turbidity and an unstable supply. To address this, storage basins were constructed to store off-peak nighttime water from the Zhuo Main Canal for agricultural irrigation. The key objectives of this project include:
1. Water Storage: Maximizing the use of available land by adding strip-shaped multifunctional storage basins, in addition to improving the channels.
2. Regulation: Regulating nighttime off-peak water to supplement daytime peak water usage.
3. Flood Detention: Storing and mitigating floods during heavy rains, with stored water being used for irrigation afterward.
4. Sedimentation: Reducing downstream siltation by allowing sediment to settle in the gently sloped basin.
