Introduction
The Linnei Diversion Works, located within the Farming and Irrigation Artifacts Museum in Linnei Township, is the first octagonal diversion structure in Taiwan and a pioneering design in Asia. It features seven intake and distribution channels, with a "two in, five out" configuration. Water is drawn from the Zhuoshui River, routed through the South Bank Connecting Channel and the No. 2 Intake, and then distributed by the diversion works to the Zhuo Main Canal, Zhuoshui Power Plant, Mayuan Lateral Canal, Wutu Lateral Canal, and the No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Complex (five out). Due to the presence of multiple intake points, water flow is prone to interference, making water distribution challenging. Therefore, the structure is designed as a regular octagon with a diameter of 100 meters. Its orthogonal inflow design reduces vortex interference and regulates water intake and discharge. The total storage capacity is 45,638 tons, making it a hydraulic facility of significant educational and research value.
